These animals are not fast runners and they are not the best hunters though when the prey is in their paws they never let it go. They usually eat elk, deer, boar, and sometimes fish. In zoos they eat fortified horsemeat. More often than not, it takes about 15 attempts for them to catch a large prey. They do not have a great stamina and cannot run for a long time, but are capable of staying under cover for a long time. They wait until the prey gets within the striking range and charge immediately when the right time comes.
